Automate a daily Stripe dispute alert with response deadlines
A missed dispute deadline loses the dispute automatically. A scheduled agent reads your Stripe disputes each day, lists new and open ones with reason and response deadline, and drafts an alert that its department head reviews and you approve.

How it runs
One agent does the work. Its department head reviews it, then you approve.
- 1Business analyst
Runs daily at 08:00 and prepares the report from your connected sources.
- 2COO · Review
The department head reviews the report before it reaches you.
- 3You
You approve before anything goes out.
What you get
Sample, not live data. The customers, amounts and dates are invented.
Open disputes, Tuesday (sample)
2 open, 1 new today.
| Dispute | Amount | Reason | Status | Respond by |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| du_sample1 | $49.00 | fraudulent | needs response | in 3 days |
| du_sample2 | $120.00 | product not received | under review | submitted |
Next steps (need your approval)
- Gather evidence for du_sample1 before the deadline.
- Check the customer's usage history.
Why deadlines matter
When a cardholder disputes a payment, you get a limited window to respond. Stripe says that window is usually 7 to 21 days depending on the card network, and that you automatically lose the dispute if you miss it. The notification emails go to one inbox and are easy to bury. A daily alert gathers every open dispute with its due date in one place, so evidence gathering starts while there is time.
How the scheduled job works
You add the job and grant a restricted key with read access to disputes. Each day a scheduled agent lists disputes through the API, notes new ones since the last run, and reads each dispute's status, amount, reason and evidence due date. It sorts the list by deadline and marks those that need a response. It does not submit evidence or accept anything, because a response is final once sent. It reads and reports, and changes nothing in Stripe.
Review and approval
The COO agent, as department head, reviews the alert before it goes out: do amounts and dates match the records, is any dispute missing or listed twice, is a suggested next step safe. Then you approve, edit or skip it, and nothing is sent until you do. Keep Stripe's own emails switched on while you compare the alert with them for a few weeks.
Preparing evidence early
A response to a dispute is final once submitted, so the useful hours are the ones before you submit. Stripe advises gathering evidence that matches the dispute category and warns that banks will not follow links or contact requests. Use the alert to start a folder for each open dispute the day it appears: the receipt, the customer's activity, your terms and any messages. The alert also keeps the due date in front of you, so the work does not wait until the last day.
