Automate your automate a weekly search console seo report

Every Monday someone opens Search Console, exports clicks and impressions, compares the week with the one before, and writes three sentences about what moved. Here is the Monday report from raw rows to approved actions: marketing pulls and drafts, product checks the claims against the raw rows, and you approve the actions it proposes. Before: log in, change the date range, export a CSV, paste into a sheet, write the summary by hand, and hope it happens on a busy week. After: the checked report is waiting when you start Monday, with up to three proposed changes to approve or drop. The report is written by AI agents, and the page says so.

What the job is

A Monday report on what moved in search, with the numbers re-checked before you see them.

Usually the founder, or a marketer who has set a recurring calendar reminder. They log in to Search Console, change the date range, export a CSV, paste it into a sheet and write a summary by hand. In small teams it slips during a busy week and nobody notices for a month, because nothing breaks when a report is skipped.

How the departments split it

  • MarketingUses read access to your Search Console property, through an integration written against the Search Console API. Pulls the last full week and the week before, grouped by query and by page, and keeps the rows with enough impressions to mean something.
  • MarketingDrafts the report: top movers up and down, queries stuck just off page one, pages that earn impressions but few clicks, and a short list of changes worth making this week.
  • ProductChecks the draft against the raw rows. Recomputes every click-through rate and position change, flags any claim the rows do not support, and marks numbers that Search Console still labels as preliminary.
  • StrategyHands you the checked report with up to three proposed site changes. You approve or drop each one; the site stays as it is until you do.

All CTR and position figures recomputed from the exported rows. The most recent days of the range can be preliminary in Search Console and were left out of the comparison.

Proposed actions (need your approval)

  1. Refresh the comparison page with this month's feature list.
  2. Add an internal link from the templates page to the shared-notebook guide.

Every Monday, pull last full week and the week before from Search Console for the property in the fields below. Draft a short report: top movers up and down, queries between positions 11 and 20 with real impressions, pages with many impressions and few clicks, and up to three proposed actions. Ask product to recompute every figure from the raw rows before the report reaches me. Propose changes and make none without my approval.

Questions

Does the report need write access to my Search Console?

No. The job reads performance data and nothing else. Your team asks for read access to the property, and changes to your site go through an approval step you control.

How far back does the data go, and how fresh is it?

Search Console serves finalized data by default and can return newer data marked as incomplete. The report uses finalized days for comparisons and says so when the latest days are still preliminary, so a Monday figure is not quietly revised on Wednesday.

Can it cover more than the top rows?

Search Console returns up to 25,000 rows per request and does not guarantee every row, just the top ones. The report states that limit instead of presenting the export as complete, and pages through results when a site needs it.

What if my analytics lives somewhere else?

Name the analytics tool you also use and give the team read access. Any API or MCP server, built for you: the same weekly job can then add that second source.
